Installation Gogbot: The Art of Seduction
For the course Have Fun and Play we were divided in groups of seven students. In this group a installation for the Gogbot festival 2013 must be made. The theme of Gogbot 2013 is Sex&Technology and Body enhancements.
Our group made the Art of Seduction. The idea is based on the ‘Grandfathers Clock’, a piece in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The Installation consists of two entrances, one for men and one for women. The installation is made of black fabric. When entering the room there is a door with a window made of milky glass. This gets the attention because it is white and lighted. On the screen is a woman/man which writes something on the screen, like: “Turn me on”. Before the person starts writing, the visitor will be confused if it is a real person behind the glass or not. They could even think that it is another visitor entering the other entrance. When the person start writing horny things, it will be even more confusing. The visitor will start reacting on the text or not, that doesn’t matter. The person behind the screen doesn’t react.
Just before the person leaves the room, the person starts screaming: “Why don’t you love me, you said you love me! Etc.” It is in big constrast with the innocence at the beginning. This will again creates confusion: “Is it a real person?”
The message behind the installation: On the internet you never know who you are interacting with.
