Modelling a 3D house
Learning about CAD/CAM was the main purpose of the course Technical Product Drawing. Part of the course was creating complex models in SolidWorks. The use of surface as well as solid modeling was taught. Besides, the use of equations and design tables was taught, to create more sustainable models. In addition, force analysis and rendering techniques were learned.
The end assignment for the course was to create a model of a house or a model of a doll house in SolidWorks, using the complex modeling techniques. The model should be able to adapt correctly when changing the length, width and height of the model. Together with another student I created a house, consisting of two floors. Positions and sizes of the doors changed when changing the sizes of the walls. Even the amount of steps of the stairs changed with the height of the model. Additionally, kitchen blocks changed size and furniture changed position, or sustained position, to create a house which could be adapted to certain size changes.
